Khartoum: The Government of Sudan has expressed approval of the statement from the 1293rd meeting of the African Peace and Security Council (AU-PSC), chaired by Algeria. The statement strongly denounced the establishment of an alleged government by the Ta’asis Alliance and the Al-Dagalo family terrorist militia.
According to Sudan News Agency, the AU-PSC reaffirmed its commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity, rejecting any attempts to dismantle the state or establish parallel structures to its legitimate institutions. The Sudanese government lauded the AU-PSC’s principled stance supporting the transitional government, highlighting the roadmap announced by General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, in February. The statement also expressed support for the Government of Hope led by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris, urging international backing.
Sudan’s government reiterated its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to affected areas
, welcoming the AU-PSC’s call to hold the Rapid Support Forces responsible for unrest in El-Fashir and parts of Darfur and Kordofan. This includes the call to lift the siege on El-Fashir to facilitate aid delivery.
The government urged international organizations to ensure the delivery of aid to civilians impacted by the RSF militia’s actions. It also called on the international community to condemn foreign interference supporting the militia and hold accountable those involved. The AU-PSC’s condemnation of such interference and its call for measures against involved parties through the Sanctions Subcommittee and other African Union entities was welcomed by Sudan.
Sudan expressed its openness to a visit from the AU-PSC to assess the country’s positive developments and political transition. Additionally, it looks forward to the return of the African Union office to Sudan soon.
