Khartoum: The government has expressed its disinterest in a meeting held in Addis Ababa concerning Sudan, stating that the gathering undermines the credibility of the African Union (AU). This statement was made by Khalid Al-Aiser, the Minister of Culture and Information and the official government spokesman. The meeting in question was reportedly organized with invitations from entities outside the AU’s framework.
According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Aiser emphasized that Sudan, as a founding member of the African Union, IGAD, and other international organizations, does not acknowledge any meetings where the Sudanese government is not an invited participant. He further articulated that Sudan is facing international and regional targeting and underscored that no external force can break the will of Sudan.
The minister also highlighted the sentiment of the Sudanese people, who reportedly do not place trust in meetings conducted without the involvement of the Sudanese government. He reassured that the government remains capable of managing its political affairs independently.
Al-Aiser’s comments followed his return to Portsudan on Saturday after leading Sudan’s delegation at the 13th Conference of Ministers of Culture in the Islamic World, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
