Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has expressed approval of the recent statement from the spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). This statement condemned the actions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, particularly the attacks on the city of El-Fashir and the violations occurring in the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons. The condemned acts include ethnic cleansing and breaches of international humanitarian law.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Ministry has reiterated its plea for the United Nations and relevant entities to move beyond mere condemnation. They urge these bodies to take urgent and effective measures against the Al-Dagalo led rebel militia. The Ministry emphasizes the necessity of implementing Security Council Resolution 2736 and calls for the immediate lifting of the siege on El-Fashir.
The Ministry further highlighted the importance of designating the militia as a terrorist group under international law. This classification is seen as essential for the protection of civilians and to stop the repeated violations against residents of the city and those in displaced persons camps.
In their statement, the Ministry warned that the ongoing silence from the international community regarding these crimes could contribute to continued human suffering. They call on the international community to fully assume its responsibilities in protecting civilians and ensuring respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
