Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed approval of the recent press statement by the League of Arab States, dated December 23, 2025. In the statement, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, lauded Dr. Kamil Idris, the Prime Minister of Sudan, for his significant address to the United Nations Security Council.
According to Sudan News Agency, the press statement from the League of Arab States emphasized the Prime Minister's comprehensive peace initiative. The initiative demonstrates a deep understanding of the severe crisis in Sudan and showcases a strong resolve to end the conflict, prevent further bloodshed, and ease the humanitarian challenges faced by the Sudanese people. It aims to maintain the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the nation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also acknowledged the supportive comments of Gamal Roshdy, Adviser and Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League. Roshdy highlighted the Arab League's recognition of the initiative's political, humanitarian, and security messages, considering it a serious and constructive framework deserving of positive engagement. The Ministry noted the Arab League's unwavering commitment to upholding Sudan's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and overall security and stability.
The Ministry reiterated that the peace initiative, as presented by the Prime Minister, embodies the Government of Hope's vision. It aims to cease the hostilities by rebel militias against civilians, safeguard the population, prevent further conflict, protect national territory, and support international peace and security efforts.
