New york: Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohy-Eddin Salim, held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Sudan, Mr. Mandi Samaya, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting focused on the bilateral relations and historical ties between Sudan and South Sudan. Ambassador Salim expressed Sudan’s aim to enhance interests and benefits across various fields, highlighting the need to activate ministerial committees to achieve strategic gains for both countries.
Minister Samaya, representing South Sudan, voiced his country’s desire to form a strategic partnership with Sudan in multiple sectors. He emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication channels between the two nations. Additionally, he reiterated South Sudan’s commitment to supporting security and stability in Sudan, advocating for a peaceful resolution through internal dialogue within Sudan to avoid external influences that might not align with the interests of the Sudanese people.
