Foreign Minister Engages with Turkish Ambassador on Suakin Island Initiatives

Khartoum: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ali Youssef welcomed Turkish Ambassador to Sudan Fatih Yildiz at his office on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Tourism in the Red Sea State Ms. Samia Oshaik, the Mayor of Artega and Suakin Abu Mohamed Al-Amin Mahmoud, along with a delegation supporting the Suakin Island Support Initiative.

According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions highlighted Turkish contributions through the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) in rehabilitating historical buildings on Suakin Island. The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Turkey’s assistance and emphasized the necessity of continuing TIKA projects to meet the aspirations of citizens in Suakin and the Red Sea State, including the construction of a Turkish School.

The Turkish Ambassador reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to ongoing support in collaboration with relevant parties, notably TIKA. It was noted that TIKA recently commenced activities in Portsudan, with expectations of further project developments soon.
