Khartoum: Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim, engaged in discussions with Ambassador Bineta Diop, the African Union (AU) Special Envoy on Women, Peace, and Security. Ambassador Diop is visiting the country from April 6 to 9, leading a high-level delegation from the African Union.According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Diop conveyed the greetings of Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, to the Government and people of Sudan. She elaborated on the objectives of her visit, which include expressing solidarity with Sudanese women and understanding their needs and visions for the post-war era.Ambassador Salim welcomed the envoy and her delegation, emphasizing the significance of reconsidering the decision to suspend Sudan's activities within the African Union. He highlighted the need to work toward restoring Sudan's membership to its rightful place within the organization.The minister also emphasized the critical role of women 's participation in the political process as a fundamental aspect for establishing peace, security, and stability in Sudan.
