Khartoum: Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gebriel Ibrahim, has set guidelines for the ministry’s work in the current stage, with the most important being to intensify efforts to continue bearing the responsibility of running state affairs and financing the war effort of the Battle of Dignity, as well as funding production to ensure its continuation and rebuilding states affected by the war. He also stressed the provision of requirements for citizens’ return to their areas and to activate laws and regulations that enhance the protection of public funds.
According to Sudan News Agency, during an expanded meeting with the Undersecretary and Directors-General of the Ministry, the Minister stressed the importance of the Ministry of Finance leading the application of digital transformation and keeping pace with developments in this field. He also emphasized the need to indigenize global technical systems and financial laws in regional and international banks and adapt them to the requirements of the national economy to gain the necessary flexibility to deal with external financing institutions for the benefit of reconstruction and sustainable development.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Abdullah Ibrahim, revealed that all financial obligations have been fulfilled from the beginning of the fiscal year to date, according to the specified priorities, top of which the war effort, employee compensations, pension entitlements, and basic services sectors. He pointed out the importance of benefiting from the partnership with the private sector to rebuild and reconstruct what has been destroyed by the war and projects for sustaining peace.
Ibrahim confirmed that the overall performance of the ministry was reassuring and proceeding according to plan.
The Directors-General presented detailed reports on performance, challenges, and requirements for addressing them.
