Khartoum: Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim has reaffirmed the government's commitment to prioritizing spending on the health sector, emphasizing that healthcare services remain a top priority in the national budget. He stressed the state's dedication to providing free treatment for children under five in government hospitals and supporting the treatment of chronic diseases.
According to Sudan News Agency, during a meeting with Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, attended by undersecretaries from both ministries and directors-general at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim pledged to address the requirements for early preparedness for health emergencies during the rainy season. He also emphasized the need to improve conditions for workers in transferred hospitals across all states.
Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim praised the Finance Ministry for its support in enhancing the health sector and creating a favorable environment for citizens returning to states affected by the war. He provided an overview of the current health services and outlined the necessary support to meet citizens' needs, including addressing the conditions of healthcare workers and doctors.
Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim also highlighted ongoing interventions by the Ministry of Health to improve public health conditions in war-affected states and announced that Sudan had been declared free of Ebola by the competent authorities.
Dr. Mohamed Ali Juma, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, confirmed the ministry's commitment to settling all outstanding health-related obligations currently under execution. The meeting also commended the Ministry of Health for its performance and adherence to public procurement laws and regulations in its transactions.
