Khartoum: A high-level delegation, including the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohi-Eddin Naeem, the Acting Director General of the Sudan Electricity Company, and the General Managers of the electricity companies, conducted an extensive inspection visit to various electricity transmission and distribution stations and thermal power plants in Khartoum State.
According to Sudan News Agency, the visit aimed to evaluate the extent of the damage inflicted on the electricity infrastructure by rebel militias and to review the progress of ongoing rehabilitation and maintenance operations. Key sites visited included the Military College Distribution Station, Al-Mugran Station, the Martyr Dr. Mahmoud Sharif Thermal Station, and the Abdul Jaafar Distribution Station.
The delegation observed the significant vandalism caused by the rebel militias and acknowledged the diligent efforts of the maintenance teams and sector workers in restoring power to the affected areas. During the visit, Dr. Mohi-Eddin Naeem conducted intensive meetings at various sites, receiving detailed reports on work progress and challenges. He emphasized the urgency of accelerating restoration efforts and resolving administrative issues to enhance productivity.
The Director General of the Electricity Transmission Company expressed gratitude to the workers for their hard work in restoring the electricity network, highlighting the critical need to provide electricity to citizens and support reconstruction efforts. He also appreciated the Undersecretary’s inspection visit and support.
Dr. Mohi-Eddin Naeem praised the electricity sector workers for their national efforts, equating their role with that of the armed forces in restoring security and reconstruction. He emphasized the need for public cooperation in rationalizing consumption and avoiding illegal connections. He concluded by offering condolences for the martyrs of the “Battle of Dignity” and urging public and private sectors to participate in reconstructing the electricity sector, noting the importance of providing necessary resources to reduce power shortages.
The visit is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to rehabilitate damaged infrastructure and restore normalcy to Khartoum State.
