Khartoum: The Electronic Payment Emergency Chamber Supervisory Committee discussed its stage report on the status of implementing decisions regulating electronic payment systems and services.
According to Sudan News Agency, the report was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Abdullah Ibrahim, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, with participation from the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation. The report highlighted key controls and procedures implemented by the Ministry of Finance, focusing on decisions by the Council of Ministers to facilitate electronic disbursement of salaries for employees and government institutions, alongside a commitment to avoid cash payments.
The committee also addressed challenges within the collection and payment systems of revenue units, such as Customs, Taxes, and the Ministry of Interior, and explored mechanisms to overcome these issues. Discussions included agreements between the Ministry of Finance and commercial banks, emphasizing the need to complete interfaces linking the electronic collection and payment system, known as Esali, with commercial banks to ensure efficient performance, confidentiality, and swift information exchange.
Additionally, the report underscored the media’s role in enhancing public awareness about the electronic collection and payment initiative, highlighting its benefits and the importance of building citizen confidence in electronic systems.
