Khartoum: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and National Education, Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar, met with the Country Director of LM International, Christophor, to discuss coordination in supporting the education sector.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting, which included the Director of Planning, Policies and Research Dr. Om Salama Al-Amin, focused on aligning efforts to strengthen educational programs. Dr. Khalifa emphasized that the ministry is the primary gateway for any organization working in education, outlining key priorities such as teacher training in psychosocial support, education in emergencies, e-learning, digital communication skills, and support for school seating and textbooks. He pointed out the significant damage the education sector has endured during the war.
Dr. Khalifa reaffirmed the ministry's readiness to enhance cooperation and coordination to achieve shared goals, expressing appreciation for LM International's efforts.
Christophor welcomed the meeting, underscoring the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding with the ministry. He confirmed continued support for education projects in Sudan, particularly for displaced children from El-Fashir affected by the war. He also noted that the World Bank and African Development Bank would determine projects in line with the ministry's plans.
