Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, affirmed the government’s commitment to rehabilitating and maintaining public and private facilities, with a focus on educational institutions. This comes as part of efforts to promote community development and protect youth from intellectual alienation.
According to Sudan News Agency, during his visit to the National University headquarters, Jabir, accompanied by Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Osman Hamza and the State Security Committee, urged Sudanese universities to engage in campaigns that support national unity and combat tribalism. This initiative aims to enhance societal awareness and contribute to intellectual and urban development. Jabir also highlighted the importance of aligning educational services with global standards to foster academic achievement.
Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Osman Hamza commended the National University for resuming activities and restarting the academic year at its main campus. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to collaborating with the university administration to overcome obstacles and improve the surrounding environment, which is expected to encourage the return of families and citizens.
Meanwhile, the President of the National University, Dr. Gurashi Mohamed Ali, expressed his satisfaction with the TSC Member’s visit. He noted the opportunity to discuss challenges faced by the university, its faculty, and students, particularly in light of the looting and destruction caused by attacks from a rebellious militia. Dr. Ali expressed hope that the visit would help address these issues effectively.
