Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Dr. Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak has been acquainted with the overall situation in Gezira Scheme and preparations and arrangements related to the agricultural season.
According to Sudan News Agency, during her meeting in her office on Tuesday with Gezira Scheme Governor Ibrahim Mustafa, Dr. Salma affirmed her support for all plans and programs aimed at developing the project. She emphasized the importance of coordinating with the executive body to overcome all obstacles and challenges facing the scheme, particularly focusing on the provision of seeds, the opening of irrigation canals, and the utilization of the large areas available for cultivation.
Dr. Salma highlighted the need to revive the Gezira Scheme due to its strategic and economic significance to both Sudan and the Arab world. She directed the provision of necessary funding to farmers to support the summer agricultural season, underscoring the importance of securing adequate resources

Dr. Salma received a comprehensive briefing on the progress of agricultural operations, including the status of seeds and irrigation, as well as ongoing arrangements for ensuring electricity supply for the summer season.
For his part, the Governor of Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, explained in a press statement following the meeting that he informed Dr. Salma about the latest arrangements related to the agricultural season and the project’s needs. He noted her close follow-up on the implementation of plans and programs designed to ensure the success of the summer agricultural season.
