Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Nuwara Abu Mohamed Tahir, affirmed the government's commitment to providing education at all stages for vulnerable groups, particularly for the deaf and hard of hearing community, to enable their integration into society.
According to Sudan News Agency, during her inspection visit on Wednesday to Al-Amal School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Salalab neighbourhood, she commended the significant efforts exerted by those working with persons with special needs, including teachers and administrators.
During her inspection of the school's administrative offices and classrooms, the TSC Member received a briefing on the school's urgent needs that hinder the regularity of studies. She pledged to provide all educational aids for this community, primarily focusing on training and removing all obstacles that hinder the development of education for the deaf and hard of hearing. This will be done in coordination and cooperation with relevant authorities and supporting bodies.
The Deputy Director of the Special Education Administration at the Ministry of Education, Yusri Amin Al-Fatih, presented the difficulties and challenges facing the education of the deaf, chief among them being training, administrative premises, and the small size of the school which accommodates three different educational stages, necessitating the organization of two shifts during the school day.
