Khartoum: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Ahmed Modawi Musa has reiterated the ministry's dedication to supporting students enrolled in higher education institutions. He emphasized the ministry's responsibility to safeguard the academic future of these students, ensuring that the ongoing war does not hinder their educational opportunities.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister announced a decision aimed at protecting the rights of all students associated with higher education institutions in Sudan. This decision is designed to alleviate the financial burden on families and promote uninterrupted access to higher education. It mandates that all higher education and scientific research institutions adhere to the 2018 Unified Tuition Fees Regulations. These regulations ensure that students can continue their studies without any increase in tuition fees from the time of their admission until graduation.
Furthermore, the decision includes provisions for students who have had to discontinue or suspend their studies due to the conflict. Institutions are required to reserve these students' seats under temporary academic deferment and must re-admit them by the start of the 2027-2028 academic year.
