Khartoum: The 2025 performance report of the Council of Ministers revealed that the Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities, and Tourism ranked first among government ministries in presenting topics discussed during Cabinet sessions last year. According to Sudan News Agency, the report prepared by the Council of Ministers and presented during Session No. (2) for 2026, held in Khartoum, highlighted that the Cabinet held 13 regular and emergency meetings throughout 2025. During these sessions, 37 topics were discussed, while two items were postponed. The Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities, and Tourism submitted eight topics, all of which were discussed and approved after being prepared by the ministry and reviewed by the competent technical committees. The report noted that the ministry's proactive approach coincided with its intensive activities throughout 2025, despite exceptional circumstances and a limited workforce. The ministry organized 50 news conferences, providing extensive briefing s on various ministries' activities and Sudanese issues that garnered domestic and international attention. Additionally, the ministry played a crucial role in recovering looted antiquities and facilitating the return of international archaeological missions. It concluded international partnerships to track looted artifacts and restore museums and archaeological sites. Furthermore, the ministry took over Suakin Governorate buildings on Suakin Island after their rehabilitation by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency. The ministry also established a new regional center for the Sudan Radio and Television Corporation in Port Sudan, developed programs within national media institutions, and supported the private media sector. Sudan witnessed numerous cultural and media conferences, workshops, and forums organized by the ministry, along with arrangements for journalists to visit the country. The report highlighted the sacrifice of several staff members, including the martyrdom of Sudan Television empl oyees. Despite limited resources, the ministry restored the operation of several institutions affected by attacks from the Rapid Support Forces militia and implemented significant programs and activities. The Ministry of Cabinet Affairs also presented 11 topics and projects during 2025, reflecting its supervisory role in monitoring government institutions and presenting joint projects to the Council of Ministers.
