Khartoum: A coordination meeting was held between the Ministers of Finance, Dr. Gebriel Ibrahim, and Infrastructure and Transport, Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun, in response to the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris regarding the maintenance of the national road connecting Port Sudan and Kassala.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting was also attended by the Director General of the Roads and Bridges Corporation, Engineer Jaafar Hassan Adam Balal. The discussions focused on mechanisms to accelerate the maintenance of the road, emphasizing the allocation of financial and technical resources necessary for infrastructure improvement. The goal is to facilitate both commercial and humanitarian movement along this vital route.
The meeting also addressed proposals for regulating toll collection points to enhance transparency and efficiency. There was a consensus on the importance of directing revenue towards sustainable maintenance efforts and reducing any violations that may occur.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport confirmed the ministry’s commitment to the national road rehabilitation plan, highlighting the importance of cooperation with relevant authorities to achieve these objectives.
