Coordination Meeting Advances Health Initiatives in River Nile State

Atbara: The regular coordination meeting for the health sector was convened at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Atbara, led by Dr. Magda Abdullah, Minister of Health in River Nile State. The meeting saw the participation of Ms. Hafsa Mahjoub, Director General of Preventive Medicine, Dr. Essam Mohamed Ali, WHO representative in the state, along with several directors of general and specialized departments, and representatives from international and national organizations supporting the health sector.

According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Magda Abdullah praised the increasing involvement of health partners from international and national organizations in supporting the pandemic response. This includes contributions in treatment, medicine, consumables, and medical equipment. The meeting highlighted the integration of solar energy into health centers and hospitals, emphasizing its critical role in maintaining essential health services.

Discussions also centered on the status of preparations for the autumn season and strategies to bolster the measles response plan. The meeting culminated in the approval of several recommendations, such as identifying health centers, hospitals, and warehouses in need of solar energy installations. Additionally, technical support from the United Nations Development Programme was endorsed. The participants also agreed to disseminate the autumn response plan among health sector partners to pinpoint further support opportunities.
