Damascus: The Syrian Civil Defense has renewed its calls for the immediate and unconditional release of volunteer Hamza Al-Amarin, who has been missing for 100 days following his kidnapping by armed groups in the city of Sweida.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the Civil Defense issued a statement on Friday highlighting that Hamza Al-Amarin is a dedicated young Syrian who committed himself to saving lives and was often at the forefront as a first responder in challenging circumstances. The statement emphasized that Al-Amarin carried “the slogan of humanity above all considerations.”
The Syrian Civil Defense condemned the abduction, declaring it a crime that violates international humanitarian law and all related conventions. It stressed that targeting Al-Amarin contradicts the values held by those who seek to build a safe and dignified future for Syrians. The organization reiterated its demand for Al-Amarin’s immediate and unconditional release.
Communication with Hamza Al-Amarin was lost on July 16th while he was conducting an evacuation mission for a UN team within Sweida province.
