Khartoum: The Supreme Council for Oil, Energy, and Mining held its first meeting on Wednesday, chaired by President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Oil and Minerals, and the TSC Secretary-General.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minister of Energy and Minerals Mohieddin Naeem stated in a press release that the meeting reviewed a report from the Ministries of Oil and Minerals, addressing the vision and objectives amid the ongoing war. The discussions focused on policies that would allow these ministries to significantly contribute to the national budget.
Naeem further highlighted that the council reached an agreement on numerous policies aimed at empowering the Ministries of Oil and Minerals to bolster the national economy’s development and growth. He also mentioned that TSC President Al-Burhan has called for a reevaluation and modification of certain policies.
The Minister of Energy and Petroleum emphasized the critical role of oil and minerals in underpinning the national economy. He noted that the ministries are prepared to aid in post-war reconstruction, notably in sectors such as electricity, water, health, and education.
