Cabinet Reviews Land Legislation and Infrastructure Plans in Khartoum

Khartoum: The Council of Ministers convened its regular meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris to address key issues concerning national security and livelihoods.According to Sudan News Agency, the session began with a report from the High Committee on the Reform and Unification of Land and Urban Planning Legislation, which was presented by Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif. The government is focusing on refining legislation related to land and urban planning to rectify past oversights and establish a robust framework for future generations.Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, highlighted the importance of these legislative reforms and mentioned the new proposals introduced by cabinet members. Additionally, the Cabinet examined national road and bridge conditions, with a focus on rehabilitating the Shambat, Al-Mak Nimir, and Al-Halfaya bridges. Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun, proposed align ing these rehabilitation efforts with the ministry's strategic plan for 2026-2030, prioritizing an integrated approach for infrastructure development.The meeting also included a briefing from Minister of Interior Lieutenant General (Police) Babiker Samra, on combating smuggling and narcotics, and preparations for the rainy season. The Cabinet heard from Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza and Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim regarding state and health ministry readiness for potential adverse weather conditions.Khalid Al-Eisir emphasized that discussions extended to matters impacting citizens' livelihoods, particularly the supply of essential goods like bread and petroleum. The Cabinet is committed to exploring strategies to alleviate factors negatively affecting living standards, reflecting the Government of Hope's dedication to prioritizing citizen welfare.
