Khartoum: The Council of Ministers convened its regular meeting on Monday, led by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris. The discussions centered on ensuring a successful summer agricultural season, amidst other pressing national issues.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir revealed that the Cabinet was briefed by Attorney General Intisar Ahmed Abdel Aal about the Public Prosecution's progress and its efforts in highlighting violations by the Rapid Support Forces militia on an international stage. The Attorney General emphasized the importance of collaborating with executive bodies to expose actions violating international laws.
Al-Eisir further reported that Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza updated the Cabinet on strategies to tackle negative societal phenomena. Additional discussions included addressing financial issues for employees in Kassala State, resolving breaches along the Gash River, and combating smuggling and drug trafficking in Kassala and other border regions.
The Cabinet reviewed reports on past and upcoming agricultural seasons, focusing on the 2025-2026 winter season and the preparedness for the 2026-2027 summer season. Challenges faced by the Gezira Scheme were also discussed, with a strong emphasis on fulfilling all needs to ensure the success of the summer agricultural efforts.
Al-Eisir noted the Cabinet's discussions on digital transformation and the modernization of state institutions to meet contemporary needs. They also addressed citizens' livelihoods, underscoring ongoing efforts to achieve progress for the Sudanese people.
Additionally, Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif introduced the 2026 Miscellaneous Amendments Bill to the Cabinet. The Cabinet members were urged to consider observations from several members regarding the draft legislation.
