Khartoum: The Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Ayesir, announced that the Council of Ministers has approved several significant international conventions during its 10th session of 2025. These international agreements, which have been pending for decades, were submitted by the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism.
According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Ayesir expressed on his Facebook page that this ratification represents the beginning of fruitful international collaborations. The approved conventions include the 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export, and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, and the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects.
Al-Ayesir further mentioned that the Council also approved several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with China and Russia. These include an MoU between the Sudan Radio and Television Corporation and the China Media Group, as well as an MoU between the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism in Sudan and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation aimed at fostering cooperation in cultural fields.
