aKhartoum: The Sudanese National Security and Defense Council convened an emergency meeting in Khartoum State on Tuesday, led by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. All members of the Council were present.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kabroun, reported that the meeting focused on the country’s security situation. The Council recognized the sacrifices of the Sudanese people and expressed condolences for those lost in the Battle of Dignity, reaffirming support for the families of martyrs, prisoners of war, and missing persons.
The Council assessed measures to prevent a recurrence of the tragedy in El Fasher and addressed violations by the Dagalo terrorist militia. The Minister noted that the meeting examined political, military, and security conditions across various engagement fronts in the country.
Further, the Minister highlighted the grave violations by the Dagalo terrorist militia in El Fasher, condemned internationally. He criticized the international community’s lack of action in enforcing resolutions prohibiting weapons in Darfur and urged the lifting of the siege on El Fasher.
The Council reviewed the humanitarian crisis, security threats, and preparations for ongoing and future operations. It also considered initiatives from other nations and allies, appreciating efforts to alleviate the Sudanese people’s suffering due to the rebel militia.
Gratitude was extended to the United States government and US Presidential advisor Massad Boulos for their efforts, with the Council welcoming any contributions to mitigating the Sudanese people’s suffering.
The Council decided to rally the Sudanese populace to support the armed forces against the rebel militia as part of a broader mobilization and state effort to quell the rebellion. A committee was established to draft the government’s vision for facilitating humanitarian aid, supporting relief efforts, and restoring peace and security in Sudan.
