Khartoum: The Head of the Democratic Bloc Alliance and Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Unionist Party (origin) in Sudan, Jaafar Al-Sadig Al-Mirghani, has praised the African Union’s position on the Sudanese issue and its rejection and condemnation of the formation of a parallel government in Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Mirghani expressed his approval in press statements on Tuesday evening, stating that the stance of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC) aligns with expectations, highlighting its consistent rejection of any actions that could divide Sudan. He emphasized that the African Union’s approach to the Sudanese crisis is a commendable one that can be further developed. Al-Mirghani noted the appreciation of the Sudanese people for the ongoing efforts by the AU to prioritize the Sudanese issue and assist in resolving the crisis.
The African Union Peace and Security Council, during its 1292nd meeting on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, condemned the declaration by the Sudan Foundation Alliance (Ta’asis), led by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, regarding the formation of a parallel government in Sudan. The Council emphasized its respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling on all AU Member States and the international community to refrain from recognizing or supporting the so-called parallel government.
