Balqwa: The people of the Balqwa region in Wad Al-Mahi province, located in the Blue Nile area, have expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by the first generation of independence leaders. During a recent commemoration event, local, youth, and community leaders emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in the face of ongoing challenges.
According to Sudan News Agency, the event highlighted the historical efforts of Sudanese people who united to expel colonial powers and contribute to the building of the Sudanese state. Local leaders called for increased support for the armed forces to counteract militias and mercenaries threatening the region's stability. The commemoration served as a platform to renew pledges of defending the homeland and preserving its integrity.
Professor Abdul-Baqi Arbab Khamis, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, acknowledged the pivotal roles played by the first generation in achieving independence. He also lauded the Balqwa region's local and community leaders for their initiatives in enhancing social cohesion and promoting peaceful coexistence. The Balqwa Youth Association's organization of various events was recognized for strengthening community ties in the region.
Professor Mahjoub Al-Sheikh Al-Khalifa, Governor of Wad Al-Mahi Province, urged the youth to embrace unity and reject division. He highlighted the Blue Nile people's significant contributions to the country's independence struggle and encouraged them to focus on nation-building efforts.
Professor Rashid Othman Yassin, representing the community and local administration, expressed satisfaction with the event's community participation. He pointed out that Balqwa is a microcosm of Sudan's social diversity, enjoying security and stability. The region's efforts to bolster the local and national economy were also noted.
