Geneva: Attorney General Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, Chairperson of the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, met with President of the Human Rights Council, Mr. Jrg Lauber, on the sidelines of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Attorney General reviewed the work of the National Committee and judicial authorities in promoting justice and upholding the rule of law. She emphasized the ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and combat impunity for violations of human rights and international humanitarian law. Detailed explanations and statistics concerning the number of cases registered, referred, and concluded were also provided during the meeting.
Mr. Lauber expressed appreciation for Sudan’s cooperation with human rights mechanisms and acknowledged the Attorney General’s active participation in the Council’s activities. He highlighted the Council’s role as a platform for promoting and protecting human rights and expressed hope for the restoration of stability and peace in Sudan. He commended the efforts of the Public Prosecution and national investigative mechanisms in this regard.
