New york: Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met Friday with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting discussed ways for the Arab League to support Sudan across vital sectors, with both sides stressing that achieving peace in Sudan is a top priority. They also addressed issues of reconstruction and development within the framework of efforts to promote stability and comprehensive development in the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Sudanese side was represented, alongside the Prime Minister, by Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Ayesir, Sudan’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Abdallah Idris; Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris; the Prime Minister’s Adviser, Ambassador Badr-Eddin Al-Jaafar, Minister Plenipotentiary Ammar Mohamed Mahmoud; Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Abu Zaid Shams-Eddin Ahmed and Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Abdel-Azim.
In addition to the Arab League’s Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Hossam Zaki, both sides reaffirmed the importance of joint Arab cooperation for a better future for Sudan, with the Arab League reiterating its commitment to support all initiatives that strengthen peace and development in the country.
