Algiers: Algeria and Somalia have jointly called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address the consequences of recent Israeli attacks on Syrian territory. The call for this urgent meeting was made public on Thursday, following consultations and an agreement with the Arab Group in New York, as stated by the Algerian News Agency (APS).
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the UN Security Council Presidency is anticipated to convene the emergency session on Thursday morning. This development underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for an immediate international response.
The Group A3+ at the UN Security Council, which comprises Algeria, Sierra Leone, and Somalia, along with the Guyana Republic, had previously affirmed its dedication to Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in March. The group emphasized the importance of non-interference in Syria’s internal matters and advocated for the removal of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the country.
