Khartoum: Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, has confirmed that the ministry is advancing with the launch of an Integrated National Animal Breeding Improvement Program. This initiative is envisioned as a crucial component for boosting livestock production hubs, enhancing food security, and augmenting the sector's contribution to the national economy.
According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Mansouri made these remarks via video conference during the closing session of the First Virtual Workshop on the Proposed National Animal Breeding Improvement Plan. The workshop, organized by the General Directorate of Animal Production Development, took place at the ministry's headquarters in Khartoum. It gathered representatives from government institutions, universities, research centers, the private sector, and relevant organizations.
The minister highlighted that the workshop, which convened leading experts and specialists, would aid in formulating practical and implementable recommendations. These recommendations are intended to lay the groundwork for a national program rooted in scientific principles, with the ultimate aim of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
