Atbara: The Federal Minister of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities, Khalid Al-Eisir, announced his ministry's intention to lay the foundation stone for the second regional centre of the Sudan Radio and Television Corporation (SRTC) in Atbara. This move follows the opening of the first regional centre in Port Sudan, the capital of Red Sea State. Al-Eisir highlighted that the new approach of the 'Government of Hope' aims to dismantle the principle of concentrating state administration in a single location.
According to Sudan News Agency, the announcement was made during Al-Eisir's address to the people of River Nile State at a Cultural Evening organized as part of the 'Made in River Nile' Forum. The event saw the attendance of the Wali of River Nile State, Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid Abugron, members of his government, Commander of the Artillery Corps, Maj. Gen. Mohamed Al-Amin, and leaders of the security committee.
Al-Eisir noted that his ministry has long considered River Nile State as holding significant cultural and media potential, along with infrastructure suitable for hosting the Ministry of Information in Atbara. He mentioned that Atbara city had previously hosted the headquarters of the Radio and Television Corporation and expressed gratitude to the people of the state for welcoming the ministry's institutions.
He also recognized the resilience of the state's residents and their national contributions throughout history. In his speech, Al-Eisir commended the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and the Artillery Corps in defending the land and honour, as well as in overcoming the rebels.
