Dakar: President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, welcomed President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, at an official reception ceremony held at the presidential palace in Dakar. Al-Burhan’s visit to Senegal forms part of his African tour aimed at enhancing cooperation between the nations.
According to Sudan News Agency, the two leaders engaged in a bilateral summit where they deliberated on various aspects of cooperation between their countries. They explored potential developments in diverse fields and exchanged perspectives on issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Sudan and the challenges facing Africa.
During the talks, TSC President Al-Burhan updated President Faye on the political landscape in Sudan, particularly concerning the rebellion by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. He described the RSF’s actions as a systematic campaign against the state and its people and emphasized the need to defeat the militia to ensure peace and stability for the Sudanese population.
President Faye expressed his appreciation for Al-Burhan’s visit and reiterated his commitment to collaborating towards resolving the Sudanese crisis. He assured Al-Burhan of Senegal’s support for Sudan in both regional and international platforms.
Furthermore, President Faye conveyed Senegal’s eagerness to foster closer ties with Sudan, enhancing cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
