Nairobi: Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Commander Malik Agar has conveyed a critical message to the Kenyan Members of Parliament concerning meetings held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Kenyan territory.
According to Sudan News Agency, the message emphasizes the historical ties and mutual respect between Sudan and Kenya, while expressing deep concern over recent developments that threaten regional unity and cooperation.
The message recounts Sudan’s solidarity with Kenya during its independence movement and acknowledges Kenya’s leadership in addressing regional issues. However, it also highlights the challenges posed by forces attempting to destabilize African nations through proxy wars and resource exploitation, often involving non-state actors.
Sudan has been significantly impacted by such destabilizing influences, with the RSF militia currently engaged in rebellion against the Sudanese state. The RSF is accused by the United Nations, the African Union, IGAD, the League of Arab States, and human rights organizations of severe violations of international humanitarian and human rights law. The Vice-President’s message draws attention to RSF meetings held in Nairobi, with another planned for mid-April 2025, aimed at establishing a ‘parallel government’ that undermines Sudan’s sovereignty and regional stability.
Commander Malik Agar urges the Kenyan Parliament to adhere to the principles of national sovereignty and non-interference, trusting in their commitment to the constitution of Kenya. He calls for solidarity and serious attention to the matter, urging support for peace, stability, and inclusive dialogue in Sudan. The message underscores the importance of legitimate mediation initiatives that involve all relevant parties and align with African and international norms.
