Al-gezira: Health insurance services in Al-Gezira State posted strong gains in the final quarter of 2025, with 3,851,831 subscribers covering 78.4% of the population. Issued identification cards reached 3,626,571, achieving a 94.4% issuance rate.
According to Sudan News Agency, State Health Insurance Director Dr. Al-Amin Hussein Omar attributed the performance to rigorous planning, effective teamwork, strategic partnerships, and close field monitoring. He said prioritizing medical services directly addresses citizens' needs while advancing quality, coverage expansion, and system sustainability.
The quarterly report cited an integrated package of technical and administrative actions delivered through 9 internal partnerships and 4 international partnerships, strengthening service readiness and continuity. Oversight covered 8 executive units, with direct supervision of 10 health facilities and indirect supervision of 32.
Key achievements included 97.4% pharmaceutical availability, contracts with 202 health facilities (up six from Q3), and the reopening of an integrated ophthalmology diagnostic and treatment complex in Greater Madani. Additional measures included integrated medical and laboratory services, free medicines and malaria testing supplies, and free treatment days across localities.
Coverage expanded through agreements with state universities benefiting over 30,000 students, temporary card issuance for University of Al Jazirah students, and new arrangements covering artisans, expatriates, and farmers under the Rahad Agricultural Project.
The report noted 1,434 beneficiaries supported by the Zakat Chamber received services, alongside over 100,000 beneficiaries funded through federal and state finance mechanisms. Public sector employees recorded 24,567 visits, with over 4,000 visits using the national card. Financially, 76% of expenditures were directed to medical services, underscoring a continued focus on efficiency and sustainability.
