Kassala: The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) at the Federal Ministry of Health concluded a workshop on priority and goal setting in Kassala on Tuesday to develop the national strategy for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) for five years.
According to Sudan News Agency, the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Representative for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. El-Tayib Ahmed El-Sayid, stated following the closing session that the workshop aimed to present the program’s strategic visions and objectives with broad participation from immunization experts in Sudan and partners from WHO, UNICEF, and other organizations operating in Sudan.
Dr. El-Sayid highlighted that a comprehensive vision agreed upon by all was established to develop and advance immunization services, prepare for the post-war phase, and restore and rehabilitate infrastructure destroyed by the war.
He emphasized that the strategy aligns with the global vision for the next ten years, aiming to provide immunization services to all age groups. This initiative underscores the importance of immunization benefits extending beyond childhood, offering protection against various diseases through vaccination.
