Khartoum:Turkey considers Sudan a long-term partner with which it shares deep historical, cultural, economic, and humanitarian ties, emphasizing the importance of this partnership.
According to Sudan News Agency, in the opening session of the High-Level Dialogue on the Recovery of Sudan's Private Sector, Turkish Commercial Attach© to Sudan Mr. Ycel Egrmez, representing the Turkish Ambassador, expressed Turkey's readiness to contribute to the private sector's recovery through enhanced partnerships between Turkish and Sudanese companies in areas of mutual interest.
Turkey plans to share its expertise in reliable and affordable energy to help restore productive capacity in Sudan. This expertise can benefit sectors such as agriculture, water systems, manufacturing, food processing, and small enterprises. Infrastructure and logistics are also considered crucial areas for collaboration.
Despite recent challenging circumstances, Turkey has continued to support the Sudanese people through humanitarian and development activities. Mr. Egrmez referred to Turkish relief efforts for those affected by the war and confirmed that Turkey had maintained its institutional presence in Sudan. Notably, Turkish Airlines and Ziraat Katilim Bank have resumed operations in the country.
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) remains active in Sudan, conducting development and humanitarian activities to support local communities and recovery efforts. Other organizations, such as the Turkish Red Crescent, the Yunus Emre Institute, and the Maarif Foundation, are also involved in these efforts.
Mr. Egrmez reported that Turkish exports to Sudan exceeded $150 million in the first half of 2026, underscoring the continuation of economic relations despite a challenging environment. He affirmed Turkey's belief that Sudan's recovery should be comprehensive and led by Sudanese efforts, with a focus on creating opportunities for its people, and reiterated Turkey's commitment to supporting this process.
