Khartoum: The Committee for Preparing the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue has announced that it has completed preparations to begin a phase of engagement with various political and societal components, as well as regional and international parties, with the aim of moving forward with its mandate to create the conditions necessary for the launch of an inclusive Sudanese dialogue.
According to Sudan News Agency, committee member and spokesperson, journalist and engineer Othman Mirghani, stated that the committee would, in the coming period, begin extensive contacts with political and societal forces inside and outside Sudan. This is seen as an essential step toward building common ground for dialogue and addressing outstanding national issues.
In press statements, Mirghani mentioned that the committee had completed the necessary arrangements to begin its practical work. The next phase is expected to witness intensive efforts to engage with various parties concerned with Sudanese affairs, with the aim of hearing their views and positions on the future of the political process.
He added that the committee is scheduled to hold an important meeting this week with the Quintet Mechanism concerned with the Sudan file. This mechanism comprises the United Nations, the African Union, the European Union, the League of Arab States, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
Mirghani noted that the upcoming meeting is part of the committee's outreach to the regional and international communities. It aims to explain its vision for preparing the ground for Sudanese dialogue, as well as to discuss ways of coordinating joint efforts to support the drive toward an inclusive political process.
The committee's spokesperson emphasized that the anticipated Sudanese dialogue seeks to reach broad national understandings by involving various political and societal forces, without exclusion.
