Khartoum: The Higher Committee for Preparing the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue has announced its intention to begin direct contacts with political forces next week. This initiative is aimed at broadening participation and setting the stage for an inclusive Sudanese dialogue.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Nabil Adib, the Coordinator of the Committee's Legal Affairs Secretariat, stated that the Office for Liaison with Political Forces will initiate contact with various political forces and conduct preliminary meetings to gather their views on the management, timing, and mechanisms of the dialogue. Notably, the outreach will include forces that are currently opposed to the dialogue.
During a press briefing following a meeting of the Political Committee at its headquarters in Khartoum, Adib emphasized the committee's focus on creating a conducive environment and facilitating the dialogue process. He clarified that decisions regarding the dialogue's options, tracks, and mechanisms would be determined by the participating parties.
Adib reiterated the committee's commitment to convincing all parties of the importance of participation, highlighting dialogue as a means to address the underlying issues of the Sudanese crisis and reach agreements to end the war. He also noted that the planned dialogue would be restricted to civilian forces, explicitly excluding military components, as the resolution of the war's causes is considered a civilian matter.
