Sudanese Ambassador Rebuts UAE and Chad Allegations at UN Assembly

New York:United Nations: Sudan's Permanent Representative, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, has strongly refuted allegations made by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Chad during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Al-Harith criticized the UAE's reference to Sudan's authorities as the 'Port Sudan government.' He argued this description contradicts the principles of equality among UN members. He accused the UAE of supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, exacerbating Sudan's humanitarian crisis, and destabilizing the region. He cited reports from the Panel of Experts and Fact-Finding Mission as evidence of the UAE's involvement.

Ambassador Al-Harith alleged that the UAE's support extended beyond purchasing weapons to efforts aimed at dismantling Sudan's government and fomenting regional strife. He accused the UAE of trying to establish a parallel administration in Nyala and engaging in activities such as ethnic cleansing and currency counterfeiting.

Regarding the UAE's chemical weapons accusations, Al-Harith dismissed them as unfounded and politically motivated. He emphasized that Sudan is a member of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and adheres to its testing protocols.

In addressing Chad, Al-Harith referred to a report by the International Independent Fact-Finding Mission, which implicates both the UAE and Chad in fueling the conflict in Sudan. He accused Chad of allowing its territory to be used as a transit route for weapons and mercenaries to the RSF militia.
