Khartoum:The Council of Ministers convened its regular meeting on Tuesday, led by Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris, to assess the implementation of economic measures aimed at stabilizing the exchange rate and national currency.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir stated in a press briefing that the meeting commenced with an evaluation of the economic landscape, featuring a presentation by Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif. This briefing covered governmental decisions and actions to regulate prices, control the exchange rate, and stabilize the national currency.
The Council also addressed gold export policies, deciding to form a committee to synchronize efforts among relevant authorities and align financial policies to enhance the quality of gold export services in Sudan. Furthermore, the Council reviewed the activities of the National Committee for Economic Management, emphasizing the importance of its continued role in improving the economic situation.
Discussions included policies regarding the import of used cars, with a consensus on the necessity to make informed decisions on the matter. The Council assessed a report on the 2025-2026 summer agricultural season, examining current agricultural conditions and strategies to support farmers.
Additionally, the Council approved the 2026 amendment to the Petroleum Wealth Act, with the Minister of Culture and Information noting a review of the country's petroleum product situation. The Minister of Energy assured that additional petroleum supplies would be available shortly.
