Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance Urges U.S. to Address Rapid Support Militia Violations in Sudan.

Cairo: Deputy Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance, Salah Hamid Al-Wali, has called for the United States to reassess its approach to the ongoing war in Sudan. He emphasized that the focus should be on the unlawful activities of the Rapid Support Militia, which he accused of perpetrating severe violations against the people of Sudan, particularly in Darfur and central regions. Al-Wali advocated for a robust American stance against these militias.

According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Wali made these remarks following a meeting in Cairo with Tom Perriello, the US special envoy for Sudan. This meeting, attended by the Democratic Grouping delegation, served as an opportunity to present the group’s vision for supporting the Sudanese people and their legitimate institutions. The discussions also revolved around strategies to halt the conflict and restore peace and stability through pressure on the militia and its backers.

Al-Wali expressed to Perriello the Sudanese people’s expectations from the America
n administration and the international community, stressing the need for non-intrusive support in their internal affairs. Furthermore, he detailed the militia’s atrocities, including killings, displacements, and the burning of over forty villages. These actions, he noted, were primarily ethnically motivated, affecting areas north of Kutum Locality in North Darfur State, and extended to massacres in villages within Gezira State.

In conclusion, Al-Wali conveyed the Alliance’s congratulations to the new American administration, expressing hope for collaborative efforts to foster healthy relations between Sudan and the United States.
