Sudan Engages in Economic Cooperation at China Investment Fair

Shenyang:Sudan took part in the seventh China International Investment and Trade Fair in Liaoning Province, held from September 23 to 25 in Shenyang. The event featured approximately 3,000 officials and business representatives from over 50 countries, under the theme 'New Impetus for Opening Up, a New Chapter for Rejuvenation.'According to Sudan News Agency, Sudan's Ambassador to China, Omar Issa Ahmed, attended the opening ceremony alongside the Governor of Liaoning Province, various Chinese and international officials, and business leaders. Ambassador Ahmed delivered a speech at the main session, highlighting the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between Sudan and China, particularly with Liaoning Province. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the province's industrial and technological capabilities and encouraged Chinese companies to explore investment opportunities in Sudan.The ambassador underscored the need to advance economic relations between Sudan and China by establishing practi cal and sustainable projects and partnerships. He noted Sudan's progression towards economic recovery and reconstruction, presenting opportunities for Chinese companies in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and logistics.Ambassador Ahmed also praised the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), welcoming Chinese initiatives that support African development and promote trade. He identified Sudan's potential to increase exports to China, particularly in agriculture, animal products, and minerals.The Liaoning-Sudan Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was a key event during the fair, organized by the Liaoning Provincial Chamber of Commerce and the Sudanese Embassy. It included presentations from both the embassy and Chinese companies on cooperation prospects in various sectors.The Sudanese Embassy also set up an informational pavilion to showcase Sudan's economic resources and investment opportunities, aiming to foster new partnerships. Additio nally, the ambassador met with representatives of Chinese companies involved in electricity, discussing potential collaborations to enhance Sudan's electricity sector.Sudan's participation included visits to several industrial companies in Liaoning, such as Jinbei (Shenyang) Automobile Company and TBEA Energy Company, to explore further industrial and commercial cooperation.Ambassador Ahmed urged Chinese companies to take concrete steps toward investment in Sudan, focusing on priority sectors like mining, agriculture, and renewable energy.
