Sudan and Azerbaijan Enhance Defense Ties in Baku

Baku:Sudan's Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Hassan Daod Kabrun, engaged in discussions with his Azerbaijani counterpart, General Zakir Hasanov, in Baku on Tuesday, focusing on advancing military and defense cooperation between the two nations.

According to Sudan News Agency, during this meeting, General Kabrun was officially invited to attend the largest joint military training exercise, which will feature the use of new weapons for the first time. The meeting coincided with the Sixth International Defense Exhibition of Azerbaijan (ADEX 2026), where General Kabrun was accompanied by Major General Al-Mo'tasem Abdullah Al-Haj, Deputy Director General of the Defense Industries System.

The discussions covered enhancing joint cooperation between the military and defense sectors of both countries, with an emphasis on exchanging expertise and experience. The two sides also reviewed recent agreements and memoranda of understanding, as well as the trajectory of their bilateral relations.

General Kabrun expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's support of Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and independence, and its commitment to peace and stability efforts. He also acknowledged Azerbaijan's concern for the humanitarian situation in Sudan and its support for alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Both ministers reaffirmed the commitment of their respective leaderships to continue coordination and elevate relations to new heights. They praised the mutual positions adopted at regional and international forums and emphasized the importance of building on progress achieved in various fields.
