Second Round of Diphtheria Vaccination Campaign Set to Launch in Sheikan Locality

Khartoum:Sheikan Preparations have been finalized for the launch of the second round of the diphtheria vaccination campaign in Sheikan locality, North Kordofan State. The campaign will run from tomorrow, Sunday, September 27, until October 2. According to Sudan News Agency, the Federal Ministry of Health, represented by the Expanded Program on Immunization and the Health Promotion Department, is spearheading this initiative. Professor Muhammad Al-Hussein Al-Hajj, head of the Additional Activities and Epidemic Response Department, announced that the campaign aims to vaccinate 281,259 individuals aged 5 to less than 20 years. The vaccination effort will be implemented through fixed centers, temporary centers, and mobile teams. Professor Al-Hajj emphasized the safety, efficacy, and cost-free nature of the diphtheria vaccine, highlighting its role in preventing the disease and its complications. He urged families to ensure their children are vaccinated and take full advantage of the services offered by the camp aign. Families are also encouraged to bring their previous vaccination cards when visiting the service centers and to retain them for future reference, as these cards are vital for adhering to the vaccination schedule, which includes a third dose six months after the second dose.
