Seaports Key to Sudan’s Development and Global Connectivity

Khartoum:Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, highlighted the pivotal role of seaports as gateways to civilizations and conduits for human and diplomatic communication. He emphasized their potential to transform coastlines from sources of threats into opportunities for exchange and sustainable development.According to Sudan News Agency, Jabir made these remarks during the opening session of the International Conference on Sudanese Ports. The event was organized by the Sea Ports Corporation in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.Jabir announced the initiation of serious investments and partnerships aimed at maximizing the use of resources along the Red Sea coast, which he believes will benefit all parties involved. He commended the resilience of the Sudanese people in overcoming challenges with the aid of friendly nations.The focus of the conference included discussions on developing and expanding existing ports, a s well as establishing new ports and free zones. Jabir stressed the importance of leveraging the visions and scientific papers presented at the conference to drive these initiatives forward.He expressed hopes for creating a strategic roadmap with phased plans and specific timelines, coupled with government support, to ensure the successful implementation of these projects.
