Miami: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) is involved in overseeing FIFA's referee preparation course that commenced on Monday in Miami, United States, in anticipation of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Hani Taleb Ballan, Chairman of QFA's Referees Committee and Vice Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, represented the association at the course.
According to Qatar News Agency, FIFA's referee preparatory course, which will continue until June 9, is an essential step in the final preparations for the upcoming global football event. This course involves all referees selected for the FIFA World Cup 2026, including an elite group of international referees from various continental confederations, who will officiate the World Cup matches.
The course is part of FIFA's program designed to prepare referees and enhance their technical and physical readiness. It includes a series of theoretical lectures, practical training sessions, and specialized workshops aimed at ensuring the highest standards of officiating performance during the event.
The FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19. The tournament will feature 48 national teams for the first time in its history.
