Khartoum: Prime Minister Prof. Kamil Idris inspected a number of service facilities in the city of Port Sudan, capital of the Red Sea State, during his return trip to Khartoum, as part of preparations for their imminent inauguration. He was accompanied by Red Sea State Wali Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Noor and the Prime Minister's Advisor, Nizar Abdullah Mohamed. According to Sudan News Agency, the Prime Minister began his inspection tour at the Emergency, Trauma and Critical Care Center in Port Sudan, regarded as the largest emergency facility in Sudan. He reviewed ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and upgrade the center. Prof. Idris underscored the necessity of transforming the facility into a national hub for emergency medicine, trauma, critical care, and training. He directed the completion of outstanding requirements, including the installation of a Computed Tomography (CT) scan unit for stroke cases, along with all other essential components needed to ensure comprehensive emergency healthcare delivery. He f urther instructed that the facility be officially designated as the National Center for Emergency Medicine, Trauma, and Training. The Prime Minister also inspected the water desalination station in Port Sudan, implemented in partnership with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the progress of work at the station and the commencement of its initial operations, in preparation for its official opening in the coming days. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-its leadership, government, and people-for support provided through KSRelief for the desalination station project. The desalination station represents a vital project aimed at providing safe and clean drinking water to the residents of Port Sudan. At the conclusion of the visit, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the 'Government of Hope's' commitment to delivering essential services, particularly in the water and health sectors. He pledged to address all remaining gaps at both the Emergency, Trauma and Critical Care Center and the desalination station, ahead of their near-term inauguration, to ensure they operate efficiently and deliver high-quality services.
