Khartoum:More than 216,000 students have finalized their online applications for admission to higher education institutions for the 2026-2027 academic year, as of the ninth day of the application period, September 25, 2026. This surge in applications is occurring as the deadline for the first round of general admissions draws near, with completed applications surpassing 99% of the target number for the first round. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is aiming to accommodate many students through both general admissions and other admission tracks.
According to Sudan News Agency, Engineer Dr. Babiker Hussein Ahmed, Director General of the General Administration of Information Technology and Networks, confirmed the smooth progress of the electronic systems. The application system, active since 2014, has been updated to allow students to complete their applications electronically via mobile phones and personal devices, handling the increasing number of applicants efficiently. The Ministry has enhanced its support system with the late Adel Abdullah Musa Response and Support Center and guidance centers, employing artificial intelligence to improve service channels and response times, thus supporting the development of smart government services.
The General Administration for Admissions, Evaluation, and Certification has urged students who have not yet completed their applications to do so before the first round deadline on September 26, 2026. The Ministry has emphasized the importance of using official channels for obtaining information and guidance, and contacting the late Adel Abdullah Response and Support Center via the unified number (2511) for assistance. This advancement in application indicators is supported by the ongoing operation of the electronic application system and enhanced guidance and support channels, ensuring timely and efficient support for students and their families.
