Doha: The occupation authorities continue to assault women through methodical and persistent detention campaigns, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the number of women prisoners surged to 89 following the arrest of four girls at dawn today, including three children, three pregnant women, 19 administrative detainees, as well as two women with cancer. The vast majority are held in Damon Prison, while others are detained in investigation centers.
The society highlighted the harsh detention conditions faced by women prisoners, including starvation, medical neglect, solitary confinement, assaults, and dehumanizing inspections. Severe overcrowding forces some prisoners to sleep on the ground. The statement pointed out that repression has intensified with physical assaults and methodical dehumanization policies.
The statement emphasized the constant detention policy based on incitement or administrative detention using "secret dossiers." Over 760 cases of women detained have been recorded since the genocide outbreak in October 2023. The society noted the deteriorating health conditions of prisoners, some suffering from chronic illnesses like cancer, deprived of treatment, amid policies of weaponizing food and intentional disease transmission.
These practices are part of a systematic torture regime against prisoners of both genders, the statement continued. The society demanded the immediate release of children, pregnant women, and sick prisoners and called for an end to persistent abuses against them.
